Hello everyone From my previous posts you know that I have been searching for an alternative to Google maps on Android. When I used symbian the ovi maps are excellent, they should be ,after all, Nokia owns the world’s largest navigation and mapping company Navteq and it supports offline navigation, and this is my biggest gripe in Google maps though there are other small issues when taken in the context of India. So I’ve set out to find alternate navigation applications in android. In my previous posts you can find the review of mapmyindia for Android and to summarize the review in three words ‘I hate it’ and some of the reasons are,not available in Android market, horrible interface and I could go on. Then I purchased Ndrive India from android market and I promised myself that I would write a review only after I use it for actual navigation and so here it is

So i promised you the review of ndrive India in my last post but the thing is unless i use it for actual navigation i obviously couldn’t write an honest review and i have been busy with my exams so i swear sa soon as my exams are over this review will be the first among my to do list.
Take care

I have a android based smart phone the HTC wildfire, and i pretty much use Google Maps for navigation and Google maps are the best but my only problem with Google maps is that there is no offline Navigation, and the 3G data packs in India are very expensive(since they are launched recently,i hope they come down soon). So i searched for alternative navigation apps on my phone and found two(expensive) of them
1.Map my india for Android
2.Ndrive India
I considered Map my india and since they are the maps made for india i thought they would be much detailed but the app is not available in the market and you have to separately buy them from the website and you have to install the app through usb but luckily i found a friend who has Map my india pre installed on his device(Samsung galaxy tab) and the interface Sucks, the map loading is very slow and if it performs in a tablet like that the i can only imagine how much it would have sucked on my mid end phone (HTC wildfire)
So i have searched for reviews of Ndrive India but could not find any so i took the plunge and bought Ndrive India.Review in the next post after i use it for actual Navigation
